Pumping water out of a stream

Unless it's a black one ibc will turn the water 'algaefied' in as little as one bright sunny day.

Black ones or an ex orange juice container is what we use .

Can get a n engine driven pump that will cope with the odd small stone for around a hundred quid new these days, it will fill the tank when needed in minutes. And carried on the bike with pipework, to and fro.
Just put a 3/4 bibcock in the side of the orange juice type tank just off the bottom, and a steel feed trough or the like (easy to empty and clean) and fill from the tap once a day when you go to see them.

Black IBC's are like hens teeth! I donated a silage bag (remember them?) to the shoot and pulled it over the 600l IBC's. Allegedly, a drop of bleach in the tank will control algae... OJ containers are so bloody awkward I find, and a pain to work with, but OK in a semi permanant location. Used to have a painfully slow mains water feed that was a nightmare to utilise, so I put an OJ container with a float valve on it, and used it as my sprayer bowser and also for fast topping up of a cattle tank with a 1" pipe.

Nice point about a trough as opposed to a tank...

Could wrap it :D:unsure::sneaky:

I've never got round to it but always wanted to paint an ibc. To do it properly Perhaps a 'for plastic' primer coat of black paint then finally a coat of white to keep it cooler just needs to be

Or maybe just chuck on an old tin of something lying around :sneaky:

Trouble I fin d as well is washing them out thoroughly enough for sheep not to be put off by taint or taste ...especially like when for heavy inlanmb ewes or the like , who you to want to encourage water drinking...

Theh didnt seem to mind traces of oj:D ...new single skin tanks are worth the extra investment at times ir.

Solar panel, leisure battery, shureflow pump, small pressure vessel, floating strainer on suction hose with foot valve, few bits of pipe and a water trough. Basic DIY skills and the jobs a good un.
Knocked it together myself in a couple of hours 3 years ago, still going perfectly and runs electric fence unit which never needs battery changed.

did look years ago at using a pump to fill a sprayer and the smaller pumps were a bit too slow looked at a bilge pump for a boat better flow
Heard good things about these guys, farm up the valley has just put in an impressive setup with over 1400 feet of head so they do make serious kit
