Pumping water to fields

I have a spring that currently feeds into a water tank, which in turn feeds another tank 100m away. I want to extend this by another 400m but will need to pump it about 5-8m higher than tank at the spring.

My plan was to replace the tank at the spring with a 1000l or bigger then I'd like to fit a 12v pump charged by solar panel. Current pipe to second tank is 20mm and would prefer to use it so looking for a pump that will work with thus size of pipe.

There are numerous pumps on the Internet but they seem to be submergeable, think I'd like to fit one on tank outlet.

Has anyone got a similar set up, does it work, and does the solar panel keep it charged?

And has anyone got a link to a pump that will fit on tank outlet?

Many thanks

Just get a stack of IBC containers to take you the 5 mtrs higher than your existing tank. Then get a high head shurflow pump and plumb from your existing tank to a ballcock in the IBC container. The high head 12v shurflow pumps are good for a 10 mtr head. Then connect your IBC container to your existing pipe and you should be good to go. The shurflow has automatic cut off switch operated on ball cock closure so power usage is minimal and 12v battery with solar panel will easily keep it topped up. Boat chandlers are a good source of supplies and advice,

With 12V, you take what you can get, I'd put the submergeable/submersible pump in the tank because that's the simplest and best type of pump for this application, and it's what's available easiest in 12V. Compare the system with and without a battery, solar panels are cheap enough, and you say you're using tanks anyway, so pump when the sun is shining, the battery won't last long anyway compared to a tank full of water.
