Puppies mixing with Farm Dogs

We have a GSD (Land Shark) puppy, it’s due its second vaccination at 10 weeks, can we socialise it with the farm dogs/walk across fields etc with the pup or are we best sticking to the protocols?

Asking on behalf of the wife as she is desperate to get her out.

Would think it’s fine aslong as your dogs are vaccinated lepto would be a bigger risk id think so maybe keep it out of any areas with rats if you have any

Just had a litter here and kept one , after all the work involved etc wouldn’t dare mix with other dogs before 2nd dose just in case after all a couple of weeks is nothing compared to having issues with your pup even thou possible risk is low

I mix mine after 1st jab. So long as all other dogs are valued then the risk should be low. I don't take them to a public place unless fully van though.

Is there much canine distemper/lepto in Wales? Haven't heard of a case of the former in years - and that was in seals.

Doesn't it also depend on which brand of jab they have had? IIRC different ones cover different things at different stages if that makes sense.

Yes I think so, similar to heptavac and bravoxin etc... the same practise was used as where mine go so should be the same

I bred a litter and had no option but to allow the pups to mingle, however my dogs never leave the farm and very seldom meet other dogs. I would guess that if your dogs have been quarantined then they would be a low risk. I think my vet said no public mixing till 14 days after 2nd jag.

Yes I believe there’s an l 2 and L4 the first does the most common strains of lepto and the second does all of them from what I was told when I had my last litter

All our dogs are vaccinated, new pups mix as soon as they arrive. But they don’t leave the yard or go anywhere with access too the public until fully vaccinated.

As above. Just keep away from anywhere that joe public go with there dogs.
