Will be getting another mower at some point so not all the world if something goes wrong , and how hard is it to replace drum anyway , is it saucers off etc

The only purpose of the drum is to swarth the grass , so that it clears the cut grass , away from the uncut grass and the previous row.

thanks , outer drum is fine , so that will divert anything from that side , it will only be cutting a very light crop thats left , didnt know if it protected any bearings etc

depends what you plan on doing with the mower, if its on its last legs anyway you just as well keep going and sell it for parts when you get a new one

I put a 185 in the scrap a few years ago, drums were fine, typical
PZ 165 with square headstock , only do 20 - 30 ac a year , quite like the look of the vicon clone or the class
We went from PZ drum mowers to Vicon 8ft disc, the PZ's were good but I wouldnt go back

Just keep it going it should be ok. I have an old km22 that looks like its been an extra in a disater movie. It shudders a bit but when its in work it shaves the ground better than any modern machine. One day il replace it. (Said that for at least ten years.) So yep crack on.

A decent second hand drum mower is £500. Why are you messing about with one that's falling apart and dangerous
it wasnt falling apart , its actually in pretty good nick (was lol ) good cover / curtain , always serviced , belts , oil checked ,every year washed down every use , kept dry in shed in winter just one of those things age related bet its 30 years old maybe more , think vibration running at 1000 finished it off .(leaves a short ridge in 540 )
Fits in well with the 1986 welger baler ,

A friend much cleverer than me worked out the equivalent weight of a drum mower blade when becoming detached at full tilt. I seem to remember the answer was several tons.
We had one come off a bamford whizzler and cut right into the upright of the safety frame of the tractor, about foot ftprom the drivers head 🤢
The blade stayed there till we sold the tractor
