Quad Bike Running Costs

Just wondered how people were getting on with repair costs for young quads that aren’t being abused?

We’ve always kept them young and avoided expensive repairs, but we’ve had a couple of issues now with bikes at under 2yo. Mostly seem to be suspension rather than drive train or electrics.

Yam kodiak 450 here is very good, can’t remember when it arrived but I think 26 months ago. Had a set of brakes at lambing and apart from that nothing else - it does eat the LED bulbs I put in it though with none lasting more than a few weeks. Driven rough with multiple drivers...

honda (4 year old now) was very troublesome gearbox the first 3 years with multiple trips to the dealer, it rarely gets driven now except for electric fencing as it has the rappa frame on it.

Not covered by warranty within 2 years?

Costs nothing too run my quad [emoji28] brakes don’t work so no worries there... starter has packed in so pull start only so that’s all good... all 4 tyres have punctures but sit happily at 10psi so leave them alone and they’re happy.. gearbox gets stuck in gear but turn it off and rock it a bit and it flicks back into life... boasts a top speed of 45mph but you’d not want too do over 20 as the steering doesn’t work too great due too the punctures.... just wish it had some hand warmers [emoji87]

I’ve had quads like that! One stood in the yard of a farm 2 miles away for years with the key in. Best immobiliser ever.

Sounds like the courtesy bikes I get when mine go for servicing 😂

We find the swing arm suspension bearings every 3 years, end rebush the front every 1500 hours starter usually plays up at the same time, breaks not done to often. That's on various models of Honda, but we do carry a lot on the racks.
