Quad bike stolen

Quads need a tracker. Even a simple phone with pay as you go card that you can track. Need to remember to take it out of its hiding place and send a text once a month. Even works for sheep in the winter where you put it in a poly bag and then put it under the fleece. Brutal but simple and effective.
Do you set it on vibrate?

Going on the large numbers of sheep down south getting stolen it would be worth a try . Leave it on ring that way when you show up with plod you can prove to the numpties that you are the owner without having to read ear tags and bring stock movement records etc. Pain in the butt changing the battery over each week, obviously not an apple phone as it only lasts a day.
Worked exactly like that for a friend of mine who followed his quad and when plod appeared was able to prove it was his quad without checking frame and engine numbers. Easy on a quad as you just wire in a charger, just need to send and receive a text once a month to keep it live.

Unfortunately last night we had our quad bike stolen ? we live on a farm with two lanes main lane and a back lane half a mile each lane. The keys was left in it, will insurance still pay?
My mate had his pickup stolen while working away and he had unfortunately left the keys in his jacket in the truck after a very late finish but he owned up to it as it was stolen next to the caravan he was sleeping in but after a few phone calls and a fairish wait the insurance actually came through and paid out but caused a bit of stress for a while.

Does that yow have to go and stand by a charger every day?

Quite expensive and a monthly fee. You can set parameters that alerts you to it moving away from designated area. Mobile phone is the cheap option.
If you look up in motorbike accessory websites you can find "mines". Its a metal box with a trip cord containing a blank shotgun cartridge. Good tip is to leave the key on the same hook as the cord that way you won't set it off yourself.

My mates getting one fitted to his quad sure he said £300 plus I think £100 a year subscription. I've got a immobilizer fitted to mine
A friend has a tracker on his quad and if it’s free wheeled any distance the tracker instantly alerts him but after he lost a previous bike to pikeys he thinks it’s fantastic
