Had are Quad stolen at 2am this morning
heard noise outside so had a quick look expecting someone had broken down and pulled in to farm drive but three males were loading Quad I shouted at them , they response was to pick up crow bar and threaten me with it .

I was always 20 feet away and after more shouting and threats from them they drove off with my bike .

Police came out etc etc NFU said this happens daily . Does any body every get caught for quad theft ? Now thinking of not replacing quad just to much risk .

Sad thing is, if you had responded with violence you’d be the one in trouble. Police advice is always let the criminals take what they want.

It’ll all go abroad.. I went on a desert excursion thing while in Egypt and this 1 crappy tin shed had 40-50 quad bikes all of different makes and ages the same spec as your average farm bike
I don't think that Joe Average has the first idea of how much stolen stuff leaves the UK in trucks / containers. We do have a reasonable handle on what comes into the country, but - sensitive stuff aside - we are pretty lax about what goes out, that is the received wisdom from within HMRC.

Over here in these United States we have a thing called a "Police force" try stealing a quad bike from a farm here and the first thing you have to get past is the farmer/rancher with a gun............if you manage to get past that then you have to deal withe cops...........they have guns also if things get sticky.

Guess what.........we don't have theft from farms.

In the UK even telling a criminal you have a gun will lead to the police seizing your firearms. UK firearms are for hunting and target shooting, definitely not self defence!

A new initiative I think in County Kerry. Milk collection truck drivers have WhatsApp group with local Police. they post messages of any suspicious activities in rural communities. They are the only people out that time of night and good reports are coming from it and it looks like it could be rolled out to other Counties.

Whilst I agree with what @Roger Perry says the trouble is these barstewards would also have guns and not think twice about shooting you before you had chance to do anything as the saying goes you wouldnt take a knife to a gun fight. It’s a vicious cycle the whole gun issue I’m fairly glad gun crime is not a huge problem here where you can be somewhat reassured your not going to get shot at the slightest disagreement with joe public.
Whichever way you look at it we as law abiding citizens are shafted by the lack of police resources

Well I guess in the UK you don't have the right to defend yourself and your property, and in turn you do not have a basic human right.
We are told constantly that in Europe the state always knows whats' best............this is just an example.
I guess it would not be too bad if you had good law and order but you do not, good luck with that.

Quite right, you are so lucky you only have to worry about mass shootings and safety in school,s whereas we have the massive issue with quad theft!
