Assuming this years goes ahead, how are they planning on deciding who is going to next years, no, spring quali matches so far and limited Autumn matches at the moment. An interesting one!
Qualifiers for 2022 go from the Autumn matches in 2021 and include the Spring matches in 2022, so there is the potential to have all of the qualifying matches in Spring 2022 which gives another 12 months. Then again, qualification had always been a bit weird. I qualified for the 2020 nationals that were to be held in October 2020 by winning a match 13 months previous in September 2019.
However, for information, this was how the entrants for the Ferguson class were planned for 2020 due to the pandemic.
A letter was sent to 24 potential entrants to attempt to discover who might NOT be coming . The list was about 2/3 qualifiers. The rest were proven ploughmen who would probably have qualified but for the wet weather, so there would have been people ploughing in the 2020 National that had not actually qualified.
As you mention, there is limited matches planned so far. But the 2 qualifiers on the SOP website are both on the same day.
