Also whats best way to re shaft a hammer without useing new shafts waterpipe and broken bale spikes

Length of nut branch, narrow one end very crudely with a bench grinder, thump it it through the head and then hammer in a lot of old fencing staples to swell and keep the head on. Might no be a bodge though as they seems to last longer than new handles do.

Previous generation here inflicted the damage on the vice . They also managed to break the point off the anvil [emoji47]

Howard big baler rear door rescued from scrapheap to unroll a 1.5t length of cable, now taking an easy life on these little reels.

3 cuts with angle grinder was all the conversion took.

It would be physically impossible to break that off , was it cut off , possibly to fit in available space ?

Hard enough to damage those old vices too.. Useful for rough work.

I know one or two people that could brake an anvil with a toffee hammer some people should never be allowed tools.

Could be broken off if there was a casting flaw, but even so...
