Having wedding party in the shed so needed to clean out the valley on the roof thats on one side of the shed. Leaks quite badly when it rains heavily (the bar will be under it no one wants watered down beer ;)) so i had to come up with a plan because the asbestos roof and gutter is too rotten to walk on anymore
Tried draining rods they were ok to break up clumps of rushes that were growing in the gutter but couldnt push or pull enough of the slop to clean it out and get the water flowing again. So i came up with the above idea. Pulled a rope back theough the gytter with the draining rods. A brick was tied to a rope with a folded up feed bag with a hole poked through threaded onto the rope in front of the brick and pulled along the gutter from the ground. Cleaned it all in one go
Most of the gutter slurry did end up on the newly pressure washed shed floor when it ran over the sides of the gutter though

I knocked this up from scrap today, a fore loader safety prop for when needing access to the tractor engine etc.
I confess that I had to use a new piece of pipe insulation to protect the ram.View attachment 704878 View attachment 704882

That type of ram is ok but be carefull of how the ram is constructed? Quicke type have a cast gland with a circlip stopping them sliding into the cylinder. Numpty here years ago working late fitting a brand new loader stuck it on the brackets oitside in the dark and lifted the front up with the forklift and chucked a prop on the ram without checking to be able to reverse back into workshop (was not a Quicke loader but similar). The flipping angle iron prop disapeared into the cylinder with the gland minus the circlip groove!! :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
