quick fixes, bodges and creations

Not sure in which thread to put this, here or in all things dairy, or even farmers carefull with money :scratchhead:
One of the in parlour feeders broke this morning, original manufacturer is unknown, a similar replacement, wouldn't be calibrated, nevermind the cost issue !!!!
So scrummidged in the scrap pile. Found some thickish Galve sheet that used to be an old hay rack, and and started fabrication. After some bending and hammering I found that I'm out of welding rods, so searched the bottom of my welding bucket for some welding rod stumps, and voila, new feed shovel for the parlour.
Should last a few more years (y)

That reminds me of an anecdote from Ken Slater who told of a cowman consistently overfeeding in the parlour - he would never give less than a full scoop so the boss surreptitiously reduced the length of the scoop by a mm each week until it was 25% shorter then encouraged the cowman to feed extra scoops to the newly calved cows - result.

And sneaky with it ;)

Points potentially deducted for the use of cable ties on the pipes (albeit not part of the current bodge), are they original or after-market?

But bonus points for two different colours of farmer's friend!
True

Better more “permanent” bodge, thought I had a spare joint but it turned out to be an M12 rather than an M16 so just cut the head off an M16 bolt and welded it to the ball joint, should keep me going until a new 1 arrives if the weather allows for spraying View attachment 719040
Top skills, but do you really need a new joint, now you have fixed the old one?
