quick fixes, bodges and creations

Come home from the hospital in the afternoon from our new baby being born 2am, to feed up quickly before heading back. Straight away hydraulic hose blows on the teleyhandler leaving her stranded in the barn blocking our loader tractor. Thankfully spare bale spike shoved through the digger knuckle on the bucket works brilliantly! :) I might actually have to make up a proper attachmen, makes loading a breeze.

I stacked hundreds of hay bales with a 2.5 ton Volvo with a pair of forks I built.
Was brilliant fun!
Back trailer into the shed and spin around putting them precisely where you wanted them.
Used to bring in 15 on the trailer (not a long haul) bottom ones on their ends, the top row on their round, pulled the bottom one out first, then the top one fell in its place, which meant that you didn’t need to be square to them to grab them.
4 high no problem.

Needed a welding fume extractor. Could do with a bit more draw, but better than nowt.
The plug is new, so are most of the pipes and joints, they’ll get used for their proper job at some point. the string, wood and the Extractor fan are all used. The fan is broken and doesn’t run true, so gives off a proper bodged sound

the fan is jammed in with a wrap of flashband. There’s three settings, calm still day mode when you can have the door open, and there’s mildly blowing day mode where the pipe is on the ground and door shut. And there’s also insane wind mode which actually blows the smoke away from you from the draught coming in.

I keep meaning to get or make another bale stacker grab to fit on the wee forklift.

If I had a wee digger again I’d make a light grab to lift the bales by their sides, the spikes could be a bit of a bugger to get out sometimes.
I made a spike to fit our old 360 but didn't get on with it. A grab would be more forgiving as you would need to get straight on to set bales on trailer.
