I have used brake cleaner for instant start petrol or diesel not so volatile as easy start, ref deodorant i would suggest people buy as many shares as possible in makers of the cans as with government guidelines that we are getting short of water so they want people to wash less often and hearing it's being used for engines should send sales through the roof, possibly the same one if too much is used to start an engine, no problem with me as i still follow WW2 guideline of 6inch water in a bath and that only happens when the rainwater butt is full anyway, maybe we should all take up smoking a pipe again that would mask unwashed bodies.

Trying to repair a broken hurdle I needed to drill through round galvanised tubes. A centre pop followed by a 3mm pilot drill were useless as the pilot drill skittered all over the place and the holes were coming out off centre. Doing this job outside I needed a drill guide. Took the curly bits from two 30mm exhaust clamps and bolted the flat bits together with two 8mm bolts, each with a hole drilled in their centres. Clamped this round the tube and I could easily drill a nice straight hole through the tube. The idea has probably been around for years.

Reminds me of an old joke:

David Brown is walking through the factory, spots a man with his boot sole flapping, walks up and says "I can't have that, It could easily make you trip up and have a accident" so he puts his hand in his pocket and pulls out a great wad of notes, pulls off the rubber band and hands it to the man "put that around it until you get it mended"

Early start with the mower tomorrow and the conditioner hood was flopping about like a pile of jelly the brackets holding it in place were broken on both sides. Just wanted something that would do for tomorrow before I fix it properly for next time. Bale twine and even a ratchet strap didn't work so had to bodge a bracket somehow. Ended up with this and was so pleased with how well it worked for something I did so quickly I just had to take a picture 😂
Random bit of offcut steel with a hole in it. Split washer off the floor shoved in hole so the bolt head didn't get swallowed and I could out a spanner on it. Welded random bit of steel onto the broken bracket and bolted everything back together. Big washer holding the cracked hood on is new as is the bolt but they did come in a box of random misfit stuff I was given by someone having a clear out because they know i use odd stuff to do things like this.
All done by torchlight for extra bodge points as I've only just finished.
More bodge points because I've only done one side the other can wait till I do it properly. Only needs to hold one day.

Hydraulic drive sprayer pump stopped wire broken somewhere in the loom no power to the solenoid to activate pump sprayer full of chemical so in a qfbc to get finished found an old bit of trailer lighting wire with a plug just long enough to reach the pump. A quick Google to find which wires did what, wired power to the solenoid through the sidelights and earth, sidelights on and bingo, pump working, jobs a good un Spraying finished and sprayer empty.

Not so sure really this fix gave me an electric switch off/on just through the lights rather than the control box leaving the other Hydraulic functions available as normal. It got the tank empty anyways when the engineer was on holiday.
