Quick Fluke Survey

Done, couldn’t decide if my farm was wet, boggy by a pond or by rivers and ditches.
Went for wet in the end but I could have ticked all four if you count a lake as a pond
Thank you so much! I know the answers are slightly restrictive, I should have probably made them a bit broader!

With over 95 fields only a small proportion of my land is described in question 2, we have 7 open ditches in the fields, 3 reservoirs, 6-7 ponds, a 50-60acre boggy Land, 30-40acre wet land and 3 mile of cliffs, which box should i tick?

Yes we have a small problem as the slaughter house is picking fluke up in 4-5% of lambs. Ewes are fluked in the autumn, no resistance of any wormers here.

Thank you so much for participating. You are more than welcome to put that as an 'Other' option. Sorry I realise I made Q2 a little narrow.

I have completed this but it needed a comments box at the end.
It is extremely unlikely that there will ever be an effective vaccine against Liver Fluke, on Rumen Fluke it is too early to say.

Talking to scientists they believe it may be possible to suppress the effect of Fluke by a vaccine.
However what I believe is far more important is to have an effective pen side test that is reliable. The present test is not accurate or effective at all stages of the lifecycle.

An accurate test that showed up infection from early stages would help farmers to use the correct product at the best time before long lasting damage has been done to the animal.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do the survey. Would you be happy for me to use this reply within my research too, as I have missed off the general comments box?:)

Madeleine I am more than happy for you to use my comments.
I would also refer you to the recent work by the Moredun Foundation and Liverpool University who are both working on Fluke.
