We rear in batches of 12 with 4 to a pen, this last lot are buggers for sucking each other.

We put them on about three weeks or so before we actually separated the weanlings. They haven't gone back at all and all are eating very well, will certainly continue to use them.

I got mine on line. Googled it and came up with an email. Just say what you want, they send an invoice and you pay, I used BACs, they came the next day. Let me know if you want the email address.

We have found the calves do much better, seem to keep growing without the "check" weaning can cause. And sooo quiet!

That's what we have done. They have been in about 3 weeks. Cows dried off nicely and took a batch of calves to mart today. Not a sound from the cows. The auctioneer commented they must have eaten a lot of cake, but they haven't had any at all, just their "special" silage in their creep shed. We took the flaps out yesterday and shut them in the creep shed over night, just in case they tried to suck again.

What age were you weaning at? Thing that worries me with ours is we wean in Oct so the weather will play a part in dragging them back at bit then normally. Did you do any testing to see how they compared to others with traditional weaning? Guessing the result sounds to have given the objective you wanted anyway though

We wean at 10 months. Or a bit less if the Dam has caught the bull a bit early. Don't like the cows dry too long. This is the first time we have used them, I suppose the silage is very good this year (analysed at 16.5 protein, was told we didn't need to feed cake with it) but it must have an effect on the calves not bawling for days on end? They do look really well.

I generally wean around the 200 day mark. Had no noise or anything really, have found cows need longer than the calves so in for around 10 days.

we have used similar clips for years one thing I will say is they can rub inside the calves nose so keep an eye on this or have a look when you take them out, this make may be ok though, I only leave them in a week max

If you put these in for a week or two and then leave the cows with the calves will they go back to suckling?

Haven't tried it. I would think yes if there are still calves sucking anyway.

We have used them on some cows that sucked, they learnt to put their nose down from above to get the points out of the way so they could still suck
