R Tech mig welders

Anybody bought or used welders from R Tech supplied ? Any good ?

Bought a 250a six years ago, it didn't work properly when it arrived (maybe just unlucky) they sent a replacement asap which was a very capable machine and did a fair bit of work, it blew a capacitor i think at 2.5 years old. It was bought with a 2 year warranty but they had since started putting 3 year warranties on their machines so they offered to retrospectively apply the 3 year warranty to mine so they collected it and repaired foc. It's now semi retired as i've got a bigger 3 phase machine, glad i don't have to rely entirely on the R-tech given the couple of issues.

I'd rate the machine as reasonable value for money, good performance, question mark on build quality given the issues and excellent customer service.
Also got their plasma cutter which has been fine but not intensively used.

I've got a 180A MIG unit - it's okay, annoying thing is that the display doesn't show the set current, only the current flowing when it's welding which is hard to see when you are trying to weld! Unit went pop fairly early on, but R Tech organised getting it picked up & repaired, came back with some extra bits in the box!

Bought an inverter stick welder from them on the recommendation of my father who at the age of 90 decided that he needed a tig welding set up with his mig welder!
Good product, very good service and backup.

Bought a 200A tig and a plasma from them back in 2011, tig doesn’t do massive work but it’s a good machine. Plasma has done a LOT of work and has been excellent, had to put a new switch on the lance but that’s only because it got stood on 🤦‍♂️. I’d have another from them, you’ll go a long way to find a better company to deal with.

Theyre just pushing on cheaper chinese welders and absorbing the cost of replacements and warranty with the margins they're putting on stuff. Do you have access to three phase on farm? you can buy cheaper three phase units on higher amperage id be looking at 250A for general farm bodgery to get penetration on the welds, arcs can dig deeper on lower amperage and voltage. ive a oerlikon single phase unit which is very good 300A have played with a friends 240A oxford and was impressed with that on 0.8 wire. if your building up big welds you want 1.0 minimum as the difference is night and day for speed. Parweld do some nice welders, you want to buy a welder from a supplier you can take the welder back to and say fix it, not rely on phone calls.

the welding superstore in telford is very easy to deal with i find, can do some good deals and let you try anything you wish before you buy it. not many dealers offer this option.

John mills doubleboost utube highly rates rtech
because hes doing paid reviews for them, im sure if someone offers you a free welder and some other stuff and ask you to paint them in a good light in return in a video you would too. Like that chucke2009 chap off youtube who basically went off the rails spieling from a rascist book did some good reviews but they were always biased to who was giving him the best ££ or machine in return

Chuckie i agree unsubcribed ages ago

To me , having watched john for quite a while , and communicate thru email, id say hes honest.

I think he’s interesting but by default he’s biased and he’s doing the same generic videos as everyone else such as the banggood covid lathe tools etc, he’s no AVe or Thisoldtony

Got a 250 mig single phase and a p50 plasma cutter, both been great, fantastic service, when I. Thought I had a problem at 6 months old they were going to send me a new machine to replace mine next day to get me going quicker than a repair until I noticed fault on air compressor.

I’ve got the 180 mig and the 170 ac/dc digital tig. Found them both to be very good. I should have brought the next sizes up as they have on demand cooling fans which make for a much quieter welder and also if you have the welders close to you the drought from is annoying. They are both more than up to welding most stuff we manage to break or are building. Also got a 180 Sip welder that is very good although a much bigger unit than the r-tech.
The 415amp 3 phase Messer unit we have is crap in comparison.
