Rabbit fencing and public footpaths.

Need to put some rabbit fencing in. Field has public footpath. Presumably we can fence to the style, but will this just make some kind of "bunny funnel"?

Any ideas? Field borders scruffy fallow and is bunny Mecca.

We’ve had this problem. We put in a really smart wooden gate on self closing hinges, hangs close to the ground and has rabbit wire attached. Shouldn’t of done it but got away with it for 5 years!

There’s no requirement for there to be dog access at a style. Fence the style as well.

Rabbit fencing works best when combined with drop traps. They will easily allow you to control the local population, rather than merely shift the problem t9 a different field.

What was the issue?

That's exactly how I have done it. We burried a length of sleeper below ground to stop them going under and hung the gate flush to it. The gate had weld mesh fixed to it and then rabbit net clipped to that for a rigid fix. Some timber was fixed up the edge of the gate post to close any gaps

Don't replace stiles with gates. Even self closing ones can be propped open with sticks by knuckle heads. Also allows motorbikes, horses, etc, etc......
