What grates with me is the anti-male attitude of Woman's hour which always seems to be on.

I know that they did a single edition of Mans hour some years ago but surely in this modern age of inclusivity Woman's Hour is an anachronism?

Surely the Beeb have twigged that listeners after the kids have gone to school in the morning are not just middle class housewives who are listening to radio whilst doing a little bit of light housework before going out to lunch?

Yes, there was a piece about it on radio 2, Jeremy wine. Couple with an 11 moth old baby had refused to call it him or her as wanted it to grow up gender neutral . Mother called herself Hobbit and lived on a narrow boat .
I think the worlds gone mad
'Their' granny only found the sex when changing their nappy at 10 months old.

Even my mum said this! She said she was sick of hearing about Lesbians etc, it was constant!

I remember listening to them absolutely Crucify Ched Evans, the whole of North Wales knew he was innocent, I get he had been (wrongly) convicted but it seemed so OTT. I stopped listening to that sh1te after that, so never got to know if his public apology was as strongly worded!!

If depression is a mental illness then wanting to change sex is also clearly a mental illness.

I write that as someone who’s Uncle is a post op transsexual. He decided to go ahead with it after 15 years of marriage and three kids. It destroyed my grandparents, wrecked his family and caused no end of grief for my father. Transsexuals need therapy not encouragement.

I hear that moderately talented, reasonably mediocre, whiney, gutless, "adult orientated " white boy "singer "Sam Smith, (that is his name, right? ) , wants to be identified as category neutral, as I believe it can be labelled/non labelled/ labels are a fascist diktat/delete as appropriate.

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I find this absolutely fascinating, and would willingly cancel all other shows so that I can fully enjoy the self absorbed witterings of the precious "singer. "

Apparently, gender neutral types are happy to be categorised as "they " . However, they are talking of themselves as a singular human being, so surely should use "it,", as " they" refers to the collective.

Was that the character who did possibly THE WORST EVER James Bond theme song?

All falsetto and whiney. Music for bed welters.

Yes. For that crime alone he should have all his musical instruments removed from him. They should be thrown into the sea. He should be led at gunpoint to his local council offices, where he should be forced to take work as a junior clerk in Audits. He deserves nothing more.

I now have to apologise to Smith, as I have continuously, and erroneously, referred to him as, indeed, him, for the entire duration of this mercifully short post.

Normal service will never resume again. ....

I understand people thinking that they're not the correct sex that they feel inside, and therefore having an operation to completely realign their gender. Then taking a new identity and living their life as a person of the opposite sex to the one they were born.

I do not understand waking up in the morning and deciding whether you're going to identify as male or female, for that day alone??? What does everyone around you do while they wait for you to announce what or who you are for that day? Walk on eggshells in case they call you the wrong thing and you storm out in a cream puff??

Surely pathetic, self centred, self indulgence does not go any further than this?

I don't know enough about the whole gender reassignment thing but I do know it involves some heavyweight drugs/hormones for many years and then some very radical surgery. I've read case reports that some children, as young as 8 or 9 are going to some fairly extreme lengths because they are so dead against their original sex and will do anything to avoid the changes they will inevitably face in puberty.

It is very sad that people are having to come to terms with such a huge rift in their entire identity as a person and I can only guess as to the impact it might have on their mental and emotional well-being. I am not entirely sure that giving children access to these drugs or surgeries is a good idea, given that they generally render you infertile for life and are not exactly reversible, either. I am no expert in these things but I believe that even the most advanced gender reassignment techniques still fall short of many expectations of those undergoing gender reassignment.

Please don’t let this thread descend to a homophobic tirade, or ‘ad hominem’ attacks.
I’m all for an individuals right to lead their life as they see fit, but I don’t see why the BBC thinks we all need ‘re-education’ to be made to pander to the vast range of individual whims. If someone wants to identify as lesbian / gay / trans / straight / vegan / lemon meringue then that’s fine, just don’t expect to be put on a plinth and expect special treatment.

Maybe it’s about time I ‘came out of the closet’. I myself would like to identify and be known for what my inner self has always yearned for. I too was born into something I no longer wish to be known as: I wish to be known for, and identify as, an ‘international playboy’, and so my ‘human rights are respected’ I demand that the nation meets my ‘emotIonal need’ for 1st class travel and accommodation in the finest hotels around the world. Yes, I’m taking the Michaela, but it’s no less absurd than the pandering being dished out by the BBC on a daily basis.
First world problems...

I listen to LBC, a good mixture of various political viewpoints so you can keep an open mind. Nick ferrari, majid nawaz, James o brien, sheelagh Fogerty, Ian dale, Nigel farage etc good for getting views from all sides.
The bloke whose on before 7 is hilarious but can’t remember his name.
Do you mean steve allen

You should have heard today's edition there was a black midwife on claiming that the medical profession was totally racist and black people got second rate treatment. How they could have allowed someone to spout this rubbish I don't know. I am hoping someone from the EDL can put their case tomorrow.
