Am warming to James, didn't know he was a football fan. Eustice was encouraging in as much as he acknowledged that ELMS is still in its early days and they are open to persuasion. Keep pushing. Missed the NFU, what did the President say ELMS should look like ?

How kind of R4 to highlight farming…

… when next month the entire weight of the BBC will be forcing ‘Veganuary’ down everyone’s throats, shoe horned into everything from the ‘news’ to Eastenders. And of course it will all be about “saving the planet”, and definitely not explaining the nature of the methane cycle.

Thus it’s even more important that folks like James Rebanks network well and become a guest editor

He’s done well. Nick Robinson broadcast from his farm once before

Not finished listening to the recording but Rory Stuart came over well. And that’s despite the views frequently espoused by some of the “home team” on here

Eustace makes it sound as though each year’s reduction of BPS will be replaced with an equivalent uplift of something as yet to be imagined - “Well look ……” and “No we haven’t thought about doing an impact assessment of the effect on the numbers of farmers left afterwards “

He was being very reptilian in his slithering about, must be looking for an ermine robe. 😁

Any of the collective been listening to radio 4 today, ag based discussion, Rory Stuart, Minnette Batters et al giving a good analysis of the mess the government is making of our industry
Minette Batters needs to look at the mess the NFU is in before she starts criticising. Rory Stewart the left's favourite Tory and radio 4 darling.

Rory might be a Tory, but sadly he’s not an MP. He’s currently lecturing students at Yale in the US, which is a damned shame as he’s one of the most highly experienced individuals to have been in parliament of late. He has plenty of critics, but he’s still leagues ahead of Johnson, Starmer and Ian ‘Gunt’ Blackford.

He went for the leadership at exactly the wrong time as he would have dithered with Brexit even more than May did but he shouldn't have thrown his toys out of the pram.
He is exactly what we want to replace the idiot currently in charge, it's a pity he's a bit geeky as image is often placed above substance these days.

Rather than throw his toys out of the pram, didn’t Boris take the whip away from him therefore effectively firing him?

If he's the Left's favourite Tory it's only because he's got a bit of principle and a more 'One Nation' type outlook rather than the headbangers and empty vessel careerists that typify the modern party. As a disgusted former Tory voter, I might actually consider voting for a party led by him.

James Rebanks is a strong, positive voice for the good that productive but considerate farming can do.
