Radio removal

Now then,
I’ve got a Jcb js200 and I can’t get the radio out, I don’t have the proper removal tools, but have stuck some nails in the four holes at the front,to work the locking clips , but the radio won’t move at all , I have tried leaving it out with a screw driver and it won’t budge??
Am I missing something, has body got any hints or tips or ideas so l don’t do some real damage ?
Thanks
Roger

The proper tools are usually 10cm long, 1cm wide and 1mm thick, cut 2 thin strips from a sheet of tin they should open the little holding tabs up. If you bend the outer housing it won’t hold the next radio properly.

Careful. Some have flat blades and some have round holes - early VW had the latter, from memory.

Thanks Scholsey,
The radio is quite old and the holes for the removal keys are round, not the small slots you discribe?

Proper tool has tiny notch about 3 mm from the end which when pushed in should lock in place and should with a good pull draw radio out .can be made from a piece of u shape fencing wire . Also nails you have may not be releasing clips pushing nails sideways helps release.

As mentioned before, i think it used to be quite common for backhoes and excavators to have the radio secured with a little bolt on a tab at back of radio. I certainly know the fermec 860 we have had the radio bolted in.

Thanks everybody
gm69 repy sounds the my promising, I’ll check for a bolt at the back.
Pictures are for inspiration!!
