He is only there for one reason, your profit is determined by him, but I've had plenty of folk asking have you got a cheap one in the cull pen, one ball will do. As above sell him and get a complete machine.
like selling a lifeboat with a patch in , what cost with no or late lambs , Always amuses me to have someone wanting a cheap ram then turning up in a new truck . We all want a bargain but the ram has most influence on lamb crop profitability especially when ewes are dear like this year .

Maybe being careful not to waste money on ''expensive'' tups is why they can afford a new truck.

The truth is: don't use a rig to breed replacements because, even if he works, the condition seems to be heritable. But there's nothing irresponsible in using a rig as a terminal sire, with the associated risks that he might not be as effective as a normal tup.

Tups dont need to be expensive , unless you leave it to the last minute and get in a bidding war at Builth etc people think better selection at sales like that but forget there is also more competition . Animals are stressed so can succumb to various aliments , I personally do my homework for best producers and buy from home .they are out there if you look especially commercially ,
Been in the pedigree game for well over 40 years and never paid much more than v good commercial money for any stock ram and that includes importations
