Range point or centrepoint

I'm on rangepoint at the moment, how much is it for the high accuracy unlock code if wanting to move to centrepoint fast? The yearly cost for centrepoint fast is £650 I believe.

I use rtx rangepoint for drilling with either 3 metre combination or 4 metre trailed drill, very pleased with how it performs on slopes etc, for best results it does take time to find the optimum settings but once you play around you can get it bang on. I does not like trees though which is very annoying and either drops out fully or drifts the a - b line, big isolated trees seem to be more of a problem than a wooded area around headland for some reason?

I was quoted £1800 unlock from rangepoint to centre point and another £1800 to centre point fast

Do you know the repeatability and accuracy specs for RangePoint and CentrePoint?

Found one, Rangepoint has 50 cm repeatability - kind of terrible, centerpoint ??

But the 'pass to pass' accuracy of Rangepoint in the field is within a couple of inches on 95% of complete passes. The issue of 'repeatability' comes from leaving the GPS parked up for an hour and then finding the next pass is 5" out when the crop emerges - hence the comment above about using the side markers for the last pass before lunch or parking up for the night.

Yeah i will agree its within a few cms pass to pass all day long & i can live with that.
Another £1800 to unlock something is daylight robbery & then more yearly subs
Bugger me i only use mine for at the most 5months of the year, pity you couldnt just buy the months you need it for eh.

Perhaps you are not talking about the same figures. Repeatability to me refers to long term stability, year to year drift.

The two documents that I quickly found refer to 50 cm repeatablity. Pass-to-pass accuracy being 15 cm at 95% confidence. At 75% confidence the pass-to-pass figure would look somewhat more attractive.

The 50 cm figure goes well with the reported horizontal accuracy figure. No error there. A different thing if one considers long term drift important or not. Some do, some don't.

I'll still stick to my 5cm pass to pass all day long. heheee
Not fussed if it moved if your away from the field or it wont be in the same place next year
All very easy to correct & at no extra COST !!!

Guidance is very nice to have but why is it dearer year after year the technology is getting better & more n more are using it shouldnt it be going the other way?

I'll set mine up when i do rolling this spring & see how close i can get the bugger pass to pass

I was under the impression the upgrade from RTX to centre point was more like £5000 because you couldn’t run it on RTX hardware and needed too upgrade nav controller and dome?

This is drilled with the Rangepoint RTX £290 subscription and there are 4 points that come to mind:
- It's 1st cousin to arrow straight.
- 'Pass to pass' is very good for the low investment in hardware (2nd hand Trimble FM-750 and an old EZ-Steer). There is a slight mismatch in the hollow but its cosmetic.
- It's far superior to using side markers, especially in low light situations where staring into the gloaming leaves you 'fair f**ked' at the end of a shift.
- Upgrading to 'Centrepoint' (or full blown RTK) would marginally improve the cosmetic appearance of the crop, but it wouldn't add a penny to the bottom line, it would have quite the opposite effect unless it was for precision veg.
[It also shows the southerners what a 3rd week September sown wheat crop looks like ?, and before someone points it out, no it didn't get it's pre-em.]
