Ransome TS59 Plough Points.

Hi All. I'm about to attend my 1st ploughing match next weekend with a Ransome TS59 with epic boards. I've checked it over this weekend and slackened/adjusted/greased the plough ready to play but my question is how are the points held in place and what do you guys use? Looks like one of mine is held in by something metal and I can't even make out what the 2nd fixing is. I'm reluctant to try and remove the points as I don't know how to re-fix it and hoping that I don't loose a point during the competition. Thanks for any suggestions.

points and shares are two separate parts on epics
There are Shares on mine no points.

Share ,Wing , Shin and Mouldboard plus tailpiece.

No points.

Anyway Back to the op, from distant memory i think i ended up using 6 inch nails cut to length and hoping soil snugged them fit enough not to drop out .

Shall know more at the weekend as she's in for a 'restore', and i'll tap them off.

Apologies @wuddy you are right and in the book ( I've just got copy of, the original book was lost some time ago ) RSJ themselves do refer to what we have as points and wings on ours anyway....., Dad always referred to them as shares i suppose that was because they are a good size with a good ' wing' on them themselves.
I wouldn't have a clue what epic mouldboards we have though as I didnt know there were 2 types, 41k and 39k ??.

I think I shall put the legs back to 10 inch instead 12 like they were originally.

Tbh I'm looking forward to getting the plough in good working order and having a go with it ,for the first time in over 40 +yrs .

41’s are shallower than 39’s and are the better of the two for match work. I wore out a pair of 41’s that dad originally used and replaced them with idcp7. Definitely better at 10” for match work in the vintage class! Pop a picture up and I’ll can tell you what you have! Steel points and shares plough a lot nicer but are very hard to find now!

I always think , but obviously can wrong that bolted on is a share and knock on , wooden peg is a point ??
Not sure, I always thought share is the collective term for the "bits" that are fixed on that wear. I kind of agree a "point" is more of a knock on or pinned on tip. On Epic bodies I'd probably call them points, because you have a point, a shin and a wing that make up the wearing items in front of the board...
