Ransomes Bonning

Just thought I’d see what a pair of ransomes bonning dsb1 board sets are worth? Frogs, landslides, points, shins, boards and tailpieces. In extremely good condition. Almost as new. No pitting and wouldn’t take long to shine up. Haven’t seen the light of day for 30 years +... thanks.

Having had one of the last Bonnings, I suggest you leave them for a future time team dig!
As any use would be confined to world style, and they are now outclassed there, real value must be approaching scrap, as a museum piece. the plough could have value, depending on its history.

What’s the reasoning behind not being aloud in classic. I see a guy at the Sussex county match using a bonning in the classic class. And he won!!!

I'm told a Bonning is allowed in the classic class over here, in Scotland and in the European, but not in England.

I'm not sure if they are outclassed in the world style, judges who are biased towards KV work are a bigger problem.

It was always a bone of contention with David that the Bonnings were not allowed whereas the ycns were .He always said that the ycn was a very slightly modified bonning body.

That will be the judges who keep the Mitchells in front then! Who use modified YCN.

Is there some snobbery or sour grapes here? A local Surrey man called Duckitt sold his plough design to Ransomes before d bonning was born. A solo board pulled by 8 shoes pre-dates YCN by a century. Ransomes were the pimps of ploughs with scores of boards and hundreds of shares for every soil. Whether you were a Yorkshire Light, a Newcastle, an Irish chilled, Lincoln chilled, a Scone or Kentish, Ransome would pander.
