Ransomes TS 59 Cross shaft

Just wandered, in what way is the TS 59 E different? Is the cross shaft longer or something? To my knowledge the 'E' and the 'J' are the same plough, they both have cast cross shaft brackets at the front but the beam that supports the middle of the frame is slightly different and, the front furrow width adjuster collars are a little different. The 'M' is the same as the 'J' but, has steel brackets to hold the cross shaft, rather than cast.
truth is I dont know actually.what the real differences is in those ploughs i was about to ask the same question myself.
better to ask someone else ie @wuddy .
but anyway ours has the ordinary steel 2 hole bracket not a cast one so must be an M then like that??
the serial no. plate disappeared on it yrs ago so i don't really know.

I think the cross shaft is the same length so its not that but ' J' has steel brackets as far as i can see, plus a bolt on to the head stay separate axle bearing /bracket instead of like on the M which is a one piece head stay and axle bearing bracket.
so ours is a 'J ' i think.

Let us not lose sight of why the cranked cross-shaft exists. It compensates for the tractor being canted in a furrow and the plough needing to be level. Driving straight, there is zero torque on the shaft. With divergent lower links, twisting the shaft can control the front furrow width. Category 1 implements are narrower than Cat 2 which changes the geometry. Kicking the cross-shaft through might be done once in a plot in desperation otherwise just keep parallel towards odd numbers.

Must have been a case of whatever was on the plate determined the model of the plough! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
