You know what, iv never thought about doing it there. Iv got a load of ewes in an that makes a sight more sense to do there, no muscle to get into at all!Does nobody else just inject them in the loose skin behind the shoulder? Fill a single file, or 3ft, race and just keep moving.
The sheep don't need restrained. 1 hand is free to pinch the skin every time. It's very quick and very easy, which limits handling time reducing the stress on the sheep.
I've never used Cydectin though, so have never attempted the ear injection thing. And honestly, I hope I never need to

The ear, thump, fingers thing....perhaps it will make sense when I next get my hands on oneWhat do you need a drawing of?
For sub cut injections I always go in the loose skin behind the ribs, below the loin muscle obviously.
No risk of getting in the muscle there, and so easy to do quickly and accurately.
Head has to be restrained for im injections in the neck, for Cydectin LA or Flexidine.

View attachment 988412Iv tried to take a photo but I makes even less sense.
Sadly Iv finish now. Would have been very entertaining as I try to film at the same time a jabbing the sheep and my hand. might have been to to much swearing for the innocent on here.I think we’re going to need a video….. with a Benny Hill tune playing in the background.
Awesome . Thanks for your effortsView attachment 988412Iv tried to take a photo but I makes even less sense.

It’s to get the meat withdrawal times down to workable levels I think, cydectin must leave some mark on the carcass when the withdrawal is as long as it is, so put it in the ear and it’s off and in the bin first thing on the killing line.I have always wondered why specifically behind the ear for some sub cut jags? We jag as you do, far quicker and no major fight but always wondered say with Cydectin etc if we were fecking the job up or if the companies making it were over complicating things?
Does that help? Using my left hand, grip the cheek wool and pull her head up and towards you. That opens up the wool giving access to the skin and you have complete control of herThink I'm gonna need a drawing of this!!! Sort of get it...
