Shorter bale is less string, less diesel, less wear and tear, the only thing the same is the bale count, which affects depreciation so it would not be fair to charge the same.
100 8fts or 200 4fts, you wouldn't be happy to be charged £4 a bale for both.

How did you work that one out!? Its still the same amount off grass/straw going through the baler over the whole field baled its still the same amount of string whether they are 4ft or 8ft bales. if anything its more wear tear as your knotters are tripping twice as many times doing 4ft bales as 8ft bales. tractors still running at 1000 pto etc etc ........

I would actually expect to pay the same for 4ft as i would 8ft and be very surprised if i was charged less.

If I charged you the same you would be paying £8 for the same amount of baled material in 2 4fts as in 1 8ft. I think my formula of a £3 minimum charge which makes it £6 covers the extra wear per bale of an extra trip of the knotters and proportionally higher string use. I just try to be fair with the price because if you take the pee you don't get asked back and word soon travels.
