Fearmongering. At this moment there are issues with lettuces and leafy veg, but that's because of diseases caused by warm and wet summer, there's also lack of seasonal workers, so producers offer fixed amount making prices to go up.
There's no issue whatsoever with potatoes atm. Prices are stuck for chippers/bakers - £130-160 ex, with steady supply. Quality salads sell for £280-380 from farms.
I wouldn't worry yet. Wait at least till November.

Statistics tell that in the UK we waste 9 billion tonnes of a year, so plenty of room for improvement. Boris can appoint [one of his Eton chums] as a food waste TSAR.. 🍟
Think someone has put the decimal point in the wrong place or twenty, 9 billion tonnes is 138 tonnes of wasted food for every person in the country, dont think even a communist state could waste that much

The Frogs certainly did eat them as I have shot them in the past and sold them to a game dealer for just that market. I think I got 3p each and delivered them in fertiliser sacks.
Apparently the Frogs pluck them, marinade them in salt, pepper and balsamic vinegar for three weeks, stick the beak up the rear end and slow bake them in a condom(colour and flavour optional).

That`s not quite true Uncle Albert and that is why you are far wealthier than I am. The reason for shooting starlings was that they were killing a plantation but now sadly the plantation has gone and is now covered in houses. Look left as you approach Hunstanton. :(
