Try fen traps on top of the feed in the hopper.

We saw the first of the winter flitting rats yesterday. A group of 4 young coming out of the foundations of the weigh bridge, almost unafraid of humans as they’ve never encountered us before.
 
Get terrier/polecat men in. Then the night vision air rifle guys. Set traps, preferably live ones so you can see what you are catching before boinking it on the head.

I would not use poison as they just run off and die in random places and stink. Plus it is expensive.

There are thousands of folk out there looking to go air-gunning and ferreting etc but who have no contacts.

Thinning them out slowly.
Got a couple of 'walk the plank' traps,set up after 'acquiring' some wheelie bins .

Poison is not expensive!!
40 quid for 4 kilos that will clear my place up on average 3times

Yes . Ramp is a but steep on the one in the photo but I've caught 37 in that bin .
The other one..Will get a photo ... the ramp is level out of a feeder and have caught over 60 .
OH said its not a,wise thing to put photo up of rats In the water ....
97 Rats! you could probably swap them for a couple of free Chow meins from the local take away :yuck::dead:
