I will use both! Just asking if anyone had ever modified one. I’ve seen people put wipers on side windows of tractors so it can’t be that hard

You can buy universal window wiper motors

easiest way would be go to a scrapyard and take a few out of cars rear windscreens cost next to nothing and easy to fit if your not scared to drill a hole

I think the reason there are no hard tops done with wipers is there are no controls for it, and power ect.
My hard top has heated screen, central locking, lights inside, brake light, but no wiper, it would be nice, but how would you control it?
Rear camera is the bees bits for reversing, so it doesn’t bother me too much.

Be easy to control it just fit simple wiring with a fuse from the battery and a switch fitted somewhere sensible in the cab

Just think of it the same as wiring aftermarket spot lights

Thats what mirrors on the doors are for - You really can't get a useful rear view through the rear cab window and then a tailgate window in line with each other .
You are actually looking through 3 windows, rear of truck then front and back of the hardtop, its going to be vague at best, and you cant really get to 2 of them to clean them.Got one on my L200 but not really sold on it, I think I would rather have a roller shutter instead TBH.

I am aware that switches could be retro fitted, nothing is impossible etc. What I mean is, with no standard controls, that is the reason manufacturers don’t fit wipers to their hard tops. Can’t imagine many customers being happy with a random switch added to their new pickup!

For it to work it needs a good washer system, that needs accommodating somewhere, and also needs to have an intermittent setting, preferably variable, it’s not a simple as a toggle switch poking out of the dash.

Good point, it’s just I like to keep as much eye on what’s behind as what’s in front
You can get a reverse camera that uses a screen clipped onto the rear view mirror, just wire it up so it’s on with the ignition.

I hate not being able to see through the rear view mirror, generally have a kids head in the way of mine.

The issue with it is not just an on-off switch but relays to provide intermittent wipe and current for self-parking after switching it off. Plus the fact that visibility will be crap through two rear windows regardless.
I reckon it would be far easier and better to wire a rear view camera with a dash mounted monitor. However, the lens will need a wet wipe now and again to retain visibility, which defeats the purpose somewhat. Land Rover have started offering cameras fitted in the sharkfin arial as an alternative to the optical mirror. Their monitor is actually a modified rear view mirror though, so it’s probably more intuitive to use than a dash monitor even though we are used to reversing cameras these days.

When I got my Hilux originally - I thought long and hard about canopy or not ?
Toyota gave me a 2.4 for a few days to try and I did a 250 mile motorway round trip and hated the hard top that was fitted
Everything slid to the front and impossible to reach
3 lots of glass to look through made the rear view mirror redundant
Glare from these 3 rear screens, reflected back onto the front windscreen at night - arrgh
Just horrible
No dogs in Back - so no need for a canopy
In the end I went for a hinged Mountain Top
Perfect - just the rear window glass and no road debris gets onto it
No glare
Can easily get to the front of bed to get things out as your can get around the sides, when hinged up, without needing to climb in
If I want it off - it's a 1 min job to take off and now you have an open back
Nothing on view, locks too
Once a few other farmers have seen my Mountain Top they have followed suit in their subsequent new Pickup
Unless you have dogs or stock can't see the popularity of canopies
