Was Bomber Bradley still there then?
Many of our mech lectures were given by Phil Thirtle (Full Throttle) and Pete (Issac) Hunt.
Phil might have left by the time you are there. He went to work for Farm Force in Yorkshire. I met him again after college at Farm Gorce when I visited the factory before buying a drill from them.
Paul (Hippo) Hemingway was also there in our first year but he left to pursue a career with JCB.

I was there 98-03 and Bomber Bradley was still there then....

I'm 10+ years later, but think lecturers Derek Saddler, Paul Beckwith, Ma Parry, Mike Tempest, Johnny Roberts, Sandy Alston?

I was later too (87-90). They were clearly a scruffy lot back then though, judging by the photo, and a good job Harper cleaned up their act after.

One must have standards.

Odd to think that a high percentage of those students are now grandparents

I am in pic 2 c/w hair

I reckon Jim Hawkins must be in that photo somewhere, guess he was on your course @Bald Rick . Had a local Frontier rep turn up on farm couple of weeks ago with my SOYL PK VRA files. Turned out talking to him that he was Jim Hawkins son .......... made me feel rather old

I was there a lot later than you guys but Sandy was still lecturing in 2010 and doing a great job of it!

So, were you there in 88-89? did you play in the rugby game when Walford came to yours and whipped your buts, I do remember your boys getting upset at the time, and a lot never had a drink in the bar afterwards.

You might have been 10 years after but I expect Sadler used the same notes for your lectures. We probably had the same notes he used for the class of 71-72
Did he used to stand in front of you holding his snooker cue?

Yes, the snooker cue was waved. Piggy and I never saw eye to eye, so why I chose a dissertation in outdoor pig production I’ll never know.
I remember he went mad at me in my oral exam when I answered his pig gestation question as three months, three weeks and three days.
Bomber Bradley was a legend in my day. I remember someone playing him in the annual review, complete with flying hat, goggles, stiff white scarf, enormous moustache and a cardboard biplane around the midriff.
Happy days indeed.

Any you guys know an A.Goodinson,started pre ent in 1980. ? How many of the pre ent students made it through the full HND course then?

Hell, so did I - think I became "cheap unpaid labour" at Ma Parry's outdoor pig unit!

I didn't "discover" outdoor pigs until well into my final year and when I set up all the experience that I'd had was a trip round the Parry's farm one afternoon along with another lad whose name is currently being taken in vain on the Red Tractor threads.
