We are thinking we might invest in a new lamb weigher we would like it to be easy to access the lamb for drenching and tagging. Be lightweight and maybe even able to be carried in the prattly but also used in a static system and have a basic digital read out we are not interested in eid

@Allied Weighing have you made your own lightweight Ali crate yet?
Prattley/FarmIT3000/pharmweigh plus a pile of others? Most are using a weigh head like a tru test to monitor lamb growth etc for those that tag at birth

Any of those would do well, being open topped to allow handling. You don’t have to use EID, just buy one without the reader panels attached (although it’s integral in the FarmIT one iirc).

the prattley one we had a simple crate years ago but would not be too keen to ear tag in one. lambs jump around a fair bit and hands get whacked
big thing is dont got to a steel crate heavy as hell to move and prone to rust very first. crate had was still the gates got sticky and. rust killed it
combi clamp best deal if wanting to do alot of things
there is a poor mans clamp set up can't recall the name of it mainly for drenching etc. but. could do tagging etc in it kinda just lean on it to crush them not sure if could put load bars under it would start to become harder to shift around

Depends on the numbers you are doing and the durability of it.
If you want something that will do thousands of lambs very quickly and have the capability of recording if you want to but be able to be operated by one person then the Pharmweigh is the best. However it is quite heavy being made of stainless steel.

It is extremely fast for just weighing lambs and you can draft 3 ways manually. The top is open so you can drench and tag however I would always prefer to do that in a race anyway.

Thanks everyone I’ve rung about a prattly, Farm I’d , and left a message for pharmweigh. Quite a variation in weight even between the ally ones prattly being lightest. Does anyone know how easy a prattly one is to carry on a prattly yard?

You can get a holder and strap that fits on the back of the system. Takes a couple of mins to load tho. easier with two people!

This works for me, just drops in whatever race we are working in, or light enough to strap onto the Portayard.

We needed to cable tie on some plastic panels over the mesh for the horned sheep, but otherwise fine, handy for lost/retagging, no waiting for swinging needles, no bars to dodge when marking or grading by hand, and light at the end of a long day!

We have just bought a pratley weigh Crete along with a carrier. It slots in where the back gate goes and then a strap similar to the straps that hold the gates to the frame

Is this carrier extra or is it included in the £2745 I’ve been quoted for the crate and load bars as we’ve already got a tru-test box

Do you have a link to it I can’t find it. Why are you selling it I’ve found a thread by you saying that it’s heavy to move about I thought they are only 44kg
We used to have a Pharmweigh, great crate and we just made a bracket to hitch it on the side of the prattley, very easy to move with the prattley tbh and it was fairly heavy
