Looking myself.
Was always pleased with Gallant, early and yielded but was discouraged as told reluctance from millers?
Pleased with Zyatt but concerned it’d be costly in a wet year with ctl gone

How much of the incoming Mulika needs colour sorting for ergot? Ours was full of it last year

After a quick sift through the intake data:

Tybalt 3 loads in total with 100% ergot
Zyatt 1 load 100% ergot
Lennox 9 loads 100% ergot
Mulika 58 loads 89% ergot
Crusoe 100 loads 78% ergot
Skyfall 182 loads 56% ergot
Illustrious 29 loads 28% ergot

Average for all the Gp1 wheat 77%

The data is possibly a bit misleading because a good number of milling/malting loads only come to us because they have ergot.

Yes it was a wise buy. And as it's sensible to send milling wheats into store, makes sense to be able to get rid or ergot. Also, wild oats out of tame oats.

Heavy land milling wheat variety needed. Needs to stand; thresh; and have an aggressive growth type. Needs to be fairly "showy" in early spring so I can feel good about it.

Thoughts? Gp1,2,3 all fine.

Nelson. 3rd year here and I’d say it’s cleaner disease wise than others. Big sowing window October to March which is why it suits us. Yield wise it’s done 3.5t in year 1 at group 1 spec from 225kg N. Last year in the dry it still made group 1 from 225kg N and yielded 2.5-2.8t/ac. Our Crusoe did 2.5t/ac.
I think it’s perhaps would suit following sewage cake or manure to get it going as it’s a bit slow.
