Another vote for a Claas Rollant 46, I worked on Claas kit & the R46 is probably the most simple, certainly the most reliable of Claas balers around that era, find a good one & you can't go far wrong.
The earlier Rollant 44 isn't a bad baler either, it's just not as good a bet as a Rollant 46.
The R46 is just a little bit better build, simpler & more reliable than the R44.

Another option would be a Welger 220, Welger baler are seriously good bits of kit.

only think that if you aren't mechanically minded , cant work how machines work give a bit of thought and if you just like to sit on a seat from day one.
If you like getting off 20 times an hour cos it’s decided it doesn’t like the crop and won’t start every other bale or you like guessing whether it will bale the crop when you are travelling to the field,go ahead. If you value your sanity, buy something else.

Our first baler was a New Holland 648. Baled everything we wanted it to, ran it behind a 95hp tractor fine. Parts were easy enough to get (changed it this year) and although perhaps a little slow by modern standards, would cope with 150 bales a year easily.

bit tongue in cheek TBH.....i bought it outta genuine retirement sale last month but havn't used it yet cos i can't get the twine arm to trip artificially as yet and weather has been tricky so rather than bugger about in field i've been using my trusty vermeer 😍 View attachment 980255

TBH i've a notion that i might take it to the field and she'll work fine cos in order to tie she needs bale pressure so i'm gonna try her in straw....if it ever ripens:rolleyes:

i paid £1200 .....if you were interested she'd £1500 + vat.....you'd be welcome to come look and i'd put her on tractor so you'd see her working....there's no control box but it can be used without i'm told :)

you're absolutely right to be seeking your own baler IMO....i baled up 7ac hay last night.....looks better in bales than swath this morning i can tell you😍
If you want to trip an empty baler in to tie mode with string or net, lift up the back door, apply the lock then power down. In that position you can manually trip the tie/net system.
