The idea of the chaff “cart”seems a good idea but may not work in practice when harvesting high yields, as cart would need to be unloaded so regularly, thereby reducing combine performance.
Chaff cart I used in Australia just released it as you were going in big heaps then left to be burnt. Was hydraulically driven so didn't take up much engine power.

I do like these threads where: 'the price of this commodity hasn't inflated like everything else', it's should be X per tonne now because inflation!'

Basic commodities do not change in value like regular goods; the clue is in the name: 'commodities'.

How do you think the poor platinum miners in the world are getting on? Not even getting paid what they were in 2011- less than half the money in fact. The easier something is to obtain and the less effort required to obtain it, the less elastic demand and supply will be.

Well that’s only true if demand doesn’t increase which it patently is.

Don't like the burning temperatures forecast beforehand, wheat on our thin stuff doesn’t look as well this morning as it did last week.

Meanwhile in S.W. Manitoba, still raining, ditches and sloughs full, 13 degrees, and planting not progressing.

I am hoping it will have kicked the Saki into getting a move on and get its ear out while i have been Italy.

After taking a look around doing some late T3 today I'm not expecting a record harvest here. Winter wheat on lighter land had burnt up quite a but and seems fairly thin. Even on heavy land some bits are struggling especially where the wet over the winter has limited the root development. First wheats after beans and maize look very promising however but other than these fields I'm expecting grain and straw yields to be down on last year.

Yet in the world of USDA global ending stocks are slightly reduced, whilst maize ending stocks were unexpectedly increased. UK production was estimated by them at 14.6 million tonnes, compared to AHDB's figure of 14.954 mt, up 1 mt on last year and 300,000 tonnes above the 5 year average.

I certainly can't see a glut of wheat in this country arriving in a hurry.

We’ve had about 50mm of rain since mid March even on heavy land that simply is not enough. Might get some this weekend if not then I am significantly downgrading my expectations.
