It's not real money. Our kids may never forgive us for closing down amazing country pubs that are just a memory. The current 'money' will soon be replaced by a new money which is crypto based and cash will be gone so they track us, trace us, tax us, imprison us if we step out of line on Facebook etc.

How is an entrepreneur going to replace my village pub which is 800 years old and was fine until this waank started? He's not allowed to open or if he is has to close by 10 and serve drinks to tables dressed as a frikking spaceman or some bullshittt.

Our kids won't give a fig for any 800 year old pub (I will), but they will for the taxes, debts and small pensions we bequeath them from this mess.

Very funny. Nice concrete job with plastic seats no doubt.
Why does it have to be built in concrete with plastic seats? It is quite possile in this day and age to build tasteful new buildings that are more functional than their predecessors. I have lived in a 16th century listed farm house that we were restricted from mondernising due to narrow minded Luddities, the logical solution was to push it over and rebuild.

Part of it's success is it's history and charm. People love that. I am personally in favour of listing buildings.

Again, it's a great sentiment you have but I'm not sure I'm in favour of the state messing with private enterprise.

As I've stated before most "Private Enterprise" is "messed with" already.

Any state funded regime - which includes the buying of pens, paper, parapcetamols, ibrupofen, army boots, civil service cars, office seats, home office lunches, banquits .. all funded by the state. Some of those are funded 100% by the state such as the BBC - but the money is collected by a private company.

Almost all companies can get some funding at some point as we ALL abide by UK law including financial law.

I'm talking about the avoidance of law or the abuse of the law by the super rich .. such as Banks, Super Markets, Software houses (Valve who are incorporated in Luxemburg, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, FacePain .. whilst at the sametime gaining VAT excemption & charitable status - like my old friend George Soros.

Laws are there to make a society .. unfortunately there are very large forces activily abusing the law to their own ends - vote "Wanton Dwarf" :)

To their credit, the EU are going after these companies who aren't paying tax, I believe the worm is turning and they will be sorted in time. The political will exists now.

Regarding the public sector, both it and the government at large need to be slimmed down. It's become far too large.

The problem is, at least with this Government. Is that slimming down the public sector seems to equate to hiving bits off to their friends and relatives, who have conveniently just formed a businesses that at least on paper can do the job.

I agree that does seem to be the name of the game, probably been going on since the 80's when privatisation first started. Lot of money being made out of fulfilling local authority or government contracts. Of course, local councils (and many government departments) didn't do too great a job at running their respective shows sometimes either. I get the impression the civil service today no longer has people who would have the skills necessary to run say, their own waste collection and disposal teams so it all goes out to big national companies who do.

It is sad to see a lot of public money disappearing into private healthcare, the profits of which end up in investors pockets as that money is being removed from the system with nothing to show for it. Having said, that several countries run similar systems and they appear to work well. I do believe the NHS will cease to be free at source, perhaps even means tested in time.

Those companies will simply go somewhere else.
