Morning All,

Our main operator / farm manager has left, a little more suddern than we expected, but it was always talked about.

we now have the task of recruiting, we feel its a good all round job with a decent 4 bed house but looking out there, lots of jobs being advertise but very few wanting - certainly goign to be hard to find someone.

where does one start to advertise?

Facebook feels too unspecific
Not sure the farm manager / operator we need reads the FW?
Farmers Guradian perhaps?
any recrutiment companies?

not sure i can stomach poaching someone of a neighbourin farmer - all though if they are unhappy / want to move up a gear then perhaps its not too awful.

any advice welcome, easy on the horror storries please!
Where are you based?

When I was 7 years old I was sitting in the kitchen of my recently deceased maternal grandfather’s farmhouse as my parents were clearing up outside as the tenancy had come to an end.
I was sitting in that kitchen with Lord Carrington’s agent as he was about to interview a prospective farm manager as he was taking my late grandfathers farm in hand. Anyway the candidate arrived in a car with his wife and family. We could see them from the kitchen window. The agent turned to me an said “Look how clean his car is and look how well turned out he and is family are. He’s got the job before he’s even met me.” And so it was he took that man on and he farmed successfully for him until he retired.
If you can take the trouble to get the simple things right then chances are you can cope with the difficult things.

Work from home is the most efficient choice for a hell of a lot of roles. The government and employer's resistance to it is silly.
The main positives I can see for why they want people to actually attend work is to prop up the economy, they’ll use fuel, they’ll grab a few coffee’s during the day, they may go to a sandwich shop or deli and get a few meals. They may go out on their lunch break and have a meal in a pub/restaurant, buy some clothes etc. I’m not sure about your area but the 5 old shopping towns I know of are now just charity shops.

Yes, in order to have a buoyant economy, money has to circulate.

(Don't know how it's going to work out in Sri Lanka with the government telling people to stay at home.)
