Most weeds that are successful are not edible, nettle thistle Dock rushes . Thats why they are successful , they are left to grow and seed
Nettles and brambles I could agree with as cattle will not eat them but nettles especially are easy to deal with as they grow in patches. Docks however cows will eat, you have to force them if theyve been fertilised but they'll eat them much easier or my gs4 ground providing you dont let them get too far on, hate them in silage though end up with a pile of sticks at the end of winter

I hardly use any
But we are a long way from the op's clover [emoji256] silage [emoji849]

Defo needs to add ryegass . Fermentation and clover is slower getting away in the spring . Grass will stop weeds getting a hold when clover is dormant
