Red diesel storage

The US has red and "clear" diesel. Home heating oil is red and the same tank as #2 diesel, but sometimes taxed slightly differently. Red "off road" diesel pumps at stations are disappearing gradually, and the price difference is shrinking. $.55/gallon tax here on road fuel, but the difference at the pump will be $.30 or so. $4.85/off road vs $5.15 on road. Enforcement sounds very similar. Red is still legal for construction and generators.

Does any other country in the world have “red” & “white” or is it just the UK ?

all sounds very confusing, over complicated & a bit of a cluster Fuch to be honest

It would be simpler to do away with red and just let farms/forestry and horticulture claim back the duty on all the fuel they use.

You know the Inland revenue though, any significant deviation from the norm and they will do a full investigation. They aren't thick.

How does it work? Can you claim the full duty back whether you use it for road fuel or on the farm. What do you have to do to prove a right to reclaim duty
