Red or White?

Changes are coming this April for the uses of red diesel in the guise of pollution reduction and it might affect what we put in our tanks. Cherry enjoys a lesser Duty rate of 11.14ppl than DERV at 57.95 pence per litre. My tractor lacks EGR, DPF, Adblue or common rail yet smokes less than a Puller and make less noise than a boy racer or a Harley.

Putting White in will only be loose change extra, and I really cannot see it being a problem in the great scheme of things,
I have run on Red in the past, however not to be caught out it will be on White from now on, as I think there could well be a more attention to Red or White later this year.
And with the prospect of going back 5 years in back duty, it won't be worth the risk.

Red is no more polluting than white…
I agree, but the issue is them at the top, environmental nut cases, are stopping red all in order to make it far more expensive to do none Agricultural work, and so seek some sort of alternative fuel for the future, or so what I have been lead to believe,
I really think they are barking up the wrong tree, and so wrong on all this environmental stuff, just think in 20 years time, some boffin at the university of also rans, will say they got it wrong, but it will be to late to start reclaiming scrub land back into production

Have a look on here and check one of your tractor reg. numbers pre Euro6. It says showman’s vehicles are exempt but no mention of Ag. vehicles.
Maybe it goes without saying..
But I’ll bet there’s many livestock floats pre Euro6 which will attract a £60 charge every time they are used.

Not sure I would want to cart silage through Manchester anyway, I have chopped grass around the suburbs of Manchester, and that was near enough for me

Edit, they had a lot of interesting gate ways, gates made of 6"x3" H girder to keep the joy riders out, locked with a ship anchor chain, ends into a 10mm thick steel box welded into the Web of 12" x 6" H girder catch post

It will be vosa doing the checking and they are self financing.
It is possible they may decide to target matches just like they target auction mart car parks.
Most competitors will only burn a few drums in a season.
It will be the commercial classes with working tractors that are at most risk as they will use red during the week.
:(

Few years ago they were at Corbridge vintage rally one Sunday morning, got a couple running on red, and them that got wind of it never went to the rally, turning round enroute

i don't know what the fuss the amount of white diesel going to be used in a vintage tractors that are used for ploughing matches working day etc, the amount that's used in about 4 to 5 hrs is not going hurt the pocket that bad , i do ploughing matches and it is what is if you want to plough on or whatever but think of it like this i run a business and i will have to swap over to road fuel on at least to of my machines , one uses 125 litres in 8 hrs and the other 95 in 8hrs 5 days a week work that increase in cost out then and although it will have to be passed it will be a big extra chunk to sort every week .

Is diesel green in Ireland and blue in America? If food reefers have to run white, our food bills will go up. If diggers have to run white, we might never get Smart motorways.

I read somewhere that major government funded projects such as motorways and HS2 are except from this change and can continue on red. Doesnt surprise you if true but cant confirm it
