Cancelled NFU membership yesterday, and have someone else coming to quote for insurances tomorrow because of NFU not standing up for us against RT. Been with NFU for at least two generations.
Well done.

Did you tell them why? And if so, what did they have to say for themselves?

Yes, didn't seem to worried. Did speak to a friend yesterday he also has cancelled his membership. Would be interesting how many people have cancelled their membership.
I honestly think they are not worried about farmers leaving the NFU,they seemed to have moved on to their corporate members, the very bodies that, years ago, they would be fighting tooth and nail to get a better deal. They have,in effect, jumped into bed with the enemy.Local and County level are pretty toothless as far as I can see.

NFU seem to have their head burried deep in the sand.

I know we have differences of opinion when debating an issue, and never 100% in favour of something, but when the RT unlevel playingfield is explained to cereals farmers, 99% understand the problem and think that it's wrong.

Truth be told. They're not interested in your (or my) opinion. They just don't care.

Had nfu out last week to revue insurance.I mentioned red tractor and nfu being involved but the person did not seem bothered and knew very little about it either.I also mentioned the farmer members were leaving en mass too due to lack of support over rt but again not really concerned.

With 99% on board I don't understand how the non f.. union can go against the grain. In other walks of life this just doesn't happen and I question their mental capacity. Even if these people cave in they are never to be trusted again after this episode.
Why is the non farmers union on a suicide mission? Can someone explain.

Pension and Insurance Salesman (or woman) only by the sounds of it.

They have so much money they don't need to worry about losing a few farming members who make their lives difficult by asking awkward questions. THis is the sad state of affairs we are in with the NFU.

They aren't here for farmers predominantly anymore. They are just here to line pockets and exist in food. Too many examples of a money-go-round in our industry. Same people, who say the party line, get jobs.

Also when are they going to change the name of the "Voluntary Initiative". Another joke of an organisation that doesn't step up or even do what its says on the tin.

I think the problem we have is that people in control of AIC,ADHB,NFU and RT are sitting very comfortably. They are all taking money from farmers, have comfortable salaries and have plenty of cash floating around.None of them, collectively or independently, want to rock the boat.I would imagine there has been plenty of phone calls flying between them and they have all been told to sit out as it will probably, in time, fizzle out.
In the past we would of gone to the NFU for help but they are part of the problem and no longer represent us.I wonder if the CLA(or whatever they're called today) or the tenants association would be worth approaching or have they already ?

I mentioned to the financial guy that I was unlikely to invest with him because the NFU seem to be against farmers when I feel they should be supporting them and he was a bit sharp and couldn't end the conversation quickly enough. Whether he's heard it all before I'm not sure.
