well my Red Tractor inspection with my new assessor is booked in....
I’ve been through the booklet and online checklist with a fine tooth comb again and again and again.

I’m confident I have every form, booklet, manual, policy and record that I need in duplicate just in case I can’t find one in my panic

Our farm is ship shape, the spray and fertilizer store is ship shape too. The staff are trained up to the hilt with certificates coming out of every orifice

Question for you loverly TFFers :- What obscure nugget of info were you asked for in your inspection that you weren’t aware of/never heard of /didn’t have.

TIA

If you have no stock, not an issue, but having recorded in your herd or flock health plan what steps you are taking to try and reduce routine antibiotics usage will go down well.

Don’t panic, if you’re confident your farm is in good order they shouldn’t find anything major wrong, and anything they do find you have 28 days to sort. As mentioned above, there is a feeling that how ever hard you try they still like to find some minor point to justify their job.
I’ve come to a point where I don’t try too hard and correct any minor non conformance afterwards.

Wise words.....they like to feel important and need to justify their jobs.
We always try to get an afternoon visit as they don't seem to want to hang around so long then .

Paperwork is the main thing, vet signature on any plans, silage analysis, mill and mixing records, ufas numbers for any bought in feed, contractors pa number and his sprayer test number, unless you've tested your own. waste and deadstock tickets.

Most important thing is to remember it's not particularly an inspection (I don't like that word) it's an assessment, and the assesor is there to help and advise you. Non conformances (don't like that word either) although annoying are usually easy to put right and aren't worth getting upset about.

Few things to be aware of

Assurance number on all trailers if you take grain off farm
Make sure you have all the rodent paperwork correct including all the risk assessments
From June 2018 the vet has to sign the herd plan and this antibiotics sheet (even if you used no antibiotics in the year). This one really p!sses me off but that's a different story.
Remember the simple ones to record when you wormed the dogs. Calibrated the spreader, cleaned the combine and grain trailers etc

complaints record.
Something that's been about since it began and can be revisited just to trip you up.

Worth noting down a few inane complaints/rectifications

Nothing that will open a can of worms and a trail of paperwork, but something to show you've a policy in place.

Eg.
2/2/2019 mud on road. Road swept.
14/2/2019 forgot valentines day. Slept on sofa..

An idea of what enterprises you have on farm might help with specific requirements. As you have sorted your spray store, I assume combinables feature. Any sheep, cattle or dairy? All have different requirements.

Perhaps it might pay to remember the assessor is just doing a job that they had no part in creating. See job, apply for job, do job, they're just trying to make a living, like everyone else.(y)

With my last two assessors I'd heartily agree with your sentiment. They understood your limitations when running a busy mixed farm and had realistic interpretations of some of the more ridiculous rules.

My current (I assume we will get the same berk this year..) assessor definitely seems to take great delight in picking us up on every minute detail and making the whole process feel more like a day in court.

Bee keepers details, worming the family pet, installation date for the unbunded fuel tank ("no idea mate, before I was born"), pesticide spill kit (cat litter and bin liners), old compound feed labels,.... Oh god, I'm starting to hyperventilate!

Make sure your IPM is updated .

I think you need to sign and date your soil management plan as well, (the one we used to have to do for cross compliance).
You need some soil test results no older than 5 years.
Moisture meter test cert.
Emergency plan with all the right numbers on it.
Slug pelleter test cert if its over a certain age.
Careful about the knapsack sprayer. My brother qualified before some date so he can use it but I cant, as I did the same test a few years later.
Grain store risk assessment thingy.
DON risk assessments for each load.
