Thread resurrection.....never have too many RT threads

What's the crack ? Due an inspection in the next few weeks........and we're still in lockdown.
Can you refuse a virtual inspection ? Can you refuse a visit ?
A friend is due a visit at the moment but has refused for obvious reasons but crop assurance are adamant they will visit.all currently in stalemate

It really is a bit rich of them to emphasise the benefits of risk assessments then when we do a Covid risk assessment on the visits by test or inspection personnel and the outcome is to cancel it on safety grounds they won’t accept it.
IMO RT tests and inspections in person should have been suspended on safety grounds for the duration of the pandemic. We accepted a virtual inspection but of course we had to fund the 4G hub that made it possible entirely from our own resources. (Though it has other uses!) The landline at 0.25 MB would have been hopelessly slow. As usual we bear the brunt of the costs and hassle that they incur, for what?

Had ours last week. Opted for inspector to come out. A Virtual tour wouldn't of worked with our reception and could see me spending hour after hour loading things on their portal. Gave him all our paperwork and let him get on with it.
Very fair inspection indeed

Had ours before christmas, inspector refused to come out, insisting it had to be done virtually, even though I could of made it covid safe.
I did it over whatsapp, so did a farm tour first, which was OK, but how the inspector got a good idea of how I run my business through the phone camera is beyond me, worst thing was as we went into each shed signal started dropping so had to run back out again. Then went into the house and did the paperwork, but that was a right faff trying to hold paperwork and film it at the same time.
I ended up with some minor paperwork non conformances which if I was sat with the inspector we could have sorted there and then but I was getting annoyed by the end and just wanted to finish the exercise.
If heaven forbid I have a major food safety issue and end up in front of a court, I do not think Red tractors defence of its OK your honour we did his last assurance visit via whatsapp will wash somehow.
Just to say I don't really mind doing the assurance, and more often than not enjoy the inspectors visit and the interaction I have with them, but this inspection was not up to scratch and I have told them so.

Has any primary producer ever been able to successfully argue against a rejection of there product at an intake (for whatever reason) because they are a RT member?

And has RT ever helped a member who has had rejections overturn the intake operators decision?

bet the answer to the above is no!
