I am in the process of renovating a Reekie ferguson and came across a picture of a similar tractor which had a blue 2" band around the bonnet. Is this significant to Reekie conversions?
Thanks for any help also any old photos of these tractors would be wonderful to see if they could be uploaded onto TFF.

there also some "standard" width tractors about with a blue stripe on them, wonder if reekie also did a creep box conversion similar to the howard ones, and also painted those with a blue stripe?

Look at the thread below on the Fife vintage ag. machinery club rally. We had 34 narrow tractors there including reekie ones. Link to our website and other photos and videos. will speak to local expert later about it.

was told its a bit of a grey area. some had blue band some didnt. Some standard width fergys were exported to new zealand and some had a blue band. he thinks reekies may have used some that were destined for export with the blue band.

When restoring this one I found under grey paint the original band of blue paint but with another reekie p3 that i had there was no signs of blue .

That reekie P3 I sold to someone down south a few years ago might have had that registration but the painted reg on the back end had worn away so much that you couldn't see any letters/numbers. I could maybe get in contact with the guy I sold it to and see if he has found out the reg of it . As for the pictures of the reekie above i know that a Mr James Maxwell Donaldson from Innerleith farm lady bank fife once owned , would be great to find out if he is still with us as with many fergie / reekie tractors there's was once a livelihood as well.

There were a couple of Reekie conversions sold down this way at a farm auction a couple of years ago, no blue bands on them but they looked to have been brush painted in their time. These had the welded up rear trumpets, not the best of welding by the looks of it, I was tempted but they made over 2k a piece and werent in the best of condition at all.
Am sure Friends of Ferguson can help out re reg numbers and knowing of where tractors are etc if they have them on their records, they are pretty good with things like that.
I have a red band on my ploughing tractor and have seen a few like it too, I did it to mine because I liked it but am sure there must be a reason why others had a red band??

Hi my name is James Maxwell Donaldson but it would be my dad you referred to in your post, unfortunately he is no longer with us but I remember him proudly telling us that “the old grey fergie “ was one of the first Reekie conversions carried out at Ladybank. As he eventually bought other tractors it was put into semi retirement and only brought out when an extra tractor was needed. My brothers and I learned to drive on it,probably about 10 or 11 years old
