It's pretty clear that The BBC don't like us farmers , their agenda, bias and selective reporting of often dubious science seem clearly designed to destroy our industry at every and any available opportunity

So why are we standing for this and supporting them by paying our TV licence fees ?

I propose that as an industry we on mass refuse to pay our TV licences, I doubt it will bankrupt them but it will send a clear message we are not going to do nothing whilst they repeatedly punch us in the face

What will they do about it ? prosecute us all ? ........................ and do we care if they do ? If this was France I suspect thy would be removing trailer loads of FYM from Broadcasting house daily !

BBC is well past it’s sell by date.it needs to be pay to view ,by our choice and not be bullied into it.or take advertising.i despise the bbc left wing bias and I’m sure the government tell them what to tell us too.was bad enough giving pensioners free licences which they deserve and then make them pay again.its impossible to get farmers to agree but it would be a good idea to all stop paying.maybe the courts would get clogged up with non paying farmers and pensioners in the future.

Why pay it anyway? Who watches live TV any more? Everything is available on demand nowadays, for which no licence is required. I got rid of my TV 10 years ago and haven't paid a licence fee since.

I think I watched one thing on BBC in last year. If someone invented a device that blocked BBC channels then would you need the "licence" / tax? The BBC are a disgrace at the moment.

There needs to be a challenge to the wording for a tv licence , I believe its along the words " if you have a device that is capable of receiving BBC , if you watch it or not you have to pay." well I think with all the need to prove guilt these days they should be made to prove some one was watching un licenced.

I really think they are manipulating the general public, Watching yesterday about global warming it was clear they only had one agenda, then they found an overweight vegetarian in Shropshire and did an interview, [this was obviously done a while ago.] the same with packam airing his views,
Im becoming very worried about the British countryside, I give shooting about 20yrs, meat eating a little longer. My children are destined to live in a country without farm animals, a mono culture of beans and rank grasses on the ex grazed land, our un- managed moors will no longer be home to waders because their chicks are killed in the regular summer wild fires..

Does anyone know how they prove that you have been watching TV? My mum received a free license which covered our farmhouse as we were caring for her, but we all gave up watching TV years ago. She was beyond taking an interest and we got tired of having someone else's crap beamed into the house for one-way consumption. The internet is much more interesting as it allows 2-way communication.
After mum died a few months ago, I registered her death on the one-stop govt. page and immediately started receiving the threatening letters from the TV people although mum's was still current til next November. I have a big TV set my sister sent us for mum, but we never connected it to an aerial and I've started use it for watching my old classic movies, etc on DVD when I am on my own in the evenings. I wondered whether they would still say that I am capable of watching the BBC?

yeah, probable the BBC.

Did you mean "probably"?

This nonsense is typical of the farmer attitude, where the default response is to play the victim. Farmers are getting a bit of stick in all corners of the media circus right now, not just the BBC, because climate-change and other environmental concerns are currently flavour of the week with the tediously sanctimonious and the easily influenced. The BBC is merely reporting that which is relevant to current affairs, such as the UN publishing a report or the likes.

At the moment it's farming, a while back it was fossil fueled power stations, diesel cars before that and nuclear has had its share too. The green lobby will always have their sights set on someone.

The don't. Capita who enforce the licence just try to get people to incriminate themselves. Ignore all letters and say nothing and don't allow into your house. All covered in great detail in the forums of the site I linked to above. It's quite legal to have a TV e.g. to watch Netflix (but not use it for broadcast TV or iplayer) withthout a licence.

Thanks, it really pees me off that the one stop bereavement page, which is fine for notifying official bodies and the tax people, is allowed to give information about my mum's death to these racketeers. Increasingly with computerization, it seems that we are in danger of becoming guilty until proven innocent.
