Not only will you need to register, but he will need to register you as well!I ment farming as a whole not just ppp.
Neighbour does all our spraying but I guess I still need to register.
I thought the voluntary initiative is a scheme set up to avoid a pesticide tax?actually if registered for this can we cancel our NROSO. memberships ?
cant see why a operator would need to be registered twice to satisfy dead tractor?
so is this the end of the not so voluntary initiative ?

NRoSO is all part of the VI initiative. Same bit of legislation as PA1 etc, sprayer testing etc. All came in place to ensure responsible use of pesticide and hopefully avoid a pesticide tax as a way of forcing responsible use. There is a clear distinction between in and Red Tractor “enforcing” it.it's a compulsory requirement of Red Tractor - it runs NROSO which is a register of sprayer operators, if we have this government register why do we need NROSO any longer ?
I see no reason why RT could justify a operator needing to be registered twice and the government free scheme is the higher authority so this is the end of NROSO surely ?
Is it just me that gets all these other gov depts rocking up then despite being in red tractor?NRoSO is all part of the VI initiative. I personally have no issue with Red Tractor or SQC policing these things as long as it’s current legislation and prevents duplicate visits from HSE, EA, gov departments.
I do however share your views on the other red tape that is being thrust upon us etc.
We just have to mindful that doing away with audit bodies completely could end up with another whole world of pain from government organisations.

Regrettably NRoSO is there to demonstrate spray operators CPD.I would rather be policed by an elected government than a commercial, company with no right of appeal any day !
.......... whichever ww choose we certainly do not need both !

Spray operator CPD is in legislation, which there would be many ways to demonstrate to meet the legal requirement. However as RT require NRoSO and won't accept any other way of CPD being demonstrated, so we are stuck with NRoSO as long as RT require it.
This new registration seems to be more about collecting data on quantities of pesticide used and chemical store locations. Brand spanking new shiny gold plated red tape!
I accept there is no need for both but I have no more faith in any elected government than nroso tbh. (ie. zero faith in case there is any doubt)I would rather be policed by an elected government than a commercial, company with no right of appeal any day !

Because Red Tractor say so! Absolutely no other reason.how can nroso be the only recognised CPD ?

Different goals. One is tasked with ensuring good practice when applying through cpd, the other in making the legislation surrounding it. I would imagine the register is HSE looking at pesticide use and trying to get a handle on what’s happening ahead of any new legislation coming our way.where is there any logic in the needs for a sprayer operator to need to pay to register with NROSO as well as register with the government ? surely we can all drop NROSO along with its costs now ?
