unfortunately ignoring this and using the defence that i had not been sent the forms will not stand up with the environment agency
More that there has been no official notification to Farmers and Growers to TBOMK....

Random stuff on a forum is it.... Not very impressive.

As i recall, the pdf form on offer was corrupt, and would not printout... a euphimism for our Govt??

Just to clarify. This was EU legislation that got put into UK law with all the other EU laws. So don't blame the EA, the Govt, the NFU or the cat. It would no doubt require an act of parliament to repeal it and there is no parliamentary time.

Thanks for the clarification. What is the timescale to register?

This isn't an April Fool.

If you are professionally applying plant protection products in agriculture or amenity, you will need to register by 22 June 2022. This is a new legal requirement, regardless of size of your business. The requirement is governed by the Official Controls (Plant Protection Products) Regulations 2020 (OCR) and failure to register is breaking the law. This legal requirement is being backed up by increased inspections and will be enforced.

This reduction of industry "red tape" is going swimmingly well!

I really wouldn't bother filling this info in until they send a demand to your business email or a letter... hopefully someone from the "union" will pick up on this thread and we will see it in more places than just Clives rant IofT... just be careful before replying... we all hate bureaucracy... red tape will only get worse now and scammers are loving it too just like @Janet Hughes Defra who clearly is also now a bot...

Morning :) I'm definitely not a bot! I've not been around through a combination of covid, holiday and then the pre-election period where we're not allowed to communicate about policy. I've been playing catch-up over the last week and am just now catching up here.

I'm sorry I didn't make that clear and left you wondering where I was - I'm now back and will be here a few times a week as normal, and am working through the messages and comments I've missed.

If there was an award for Best Thing Defra Have Done In Ages, it should go to Janet and presumably whoever else at Defra decided that engaging with us in this way was very much a positive step.

Boris is going to get rid of a lot of this eu red tape rubbish (supposedly, again), Wait and see if this goes, which it should. I thought the Ripoff Today lot was supposed to stop this sort of thing. Just goes to show what a total waste of space time and very hard to earn money they are.

Just registered for this. Life is too short to fight against these minor irritations. It is a VERY simple process, took me about 10 minutes total.
I will admit that it was made very easy for me by being able to print of a report of chemical product use from Greenlight Grower to answer the total quantity of product used annually.
To be honest it isn't worth getting upset about with all the other problems in the world right now.

That's what we said about red tractor years ago

It may be like the livestock haulage thing, the sprayer exams, the soil health report, the registration with the pharmaceutical society if mixing minerals with concentrates rather than letting the cows at it for themselves in bulk, the registration of fertiliser store with fire service ["eh? feck-off" is effectively what I got when I tried]. Not forgetting the trailer driving test.

All a total load of balls of the testicular kind. How did we ever get along so perfectly well without them?

A lot of these people are not just a burden to the exchequer and taxpayer but also a massive burden and cost to businesses of all kinds. They are in a kind of job creation scheme that has made this country’s industry and farming far less competitive than otherwise. Its high time there was a massive cull of civil servants at every level down to County Hall level and a re-allocation of funding away from QUANGOS like Farming Connect and such, back to primary producers of goods and worthwhile services.

'EXCESSIVE GOVERNMENT
In order to maintain this system where people were tied to their
land, home, jobs, and places of employment, Diocletian transformed
the previous ad hoc practice. Workers were organized into guilds and
businesses into corporations called collegia. Both became de facto
organs of the state, controlling and directing their members to work
and produce for the state.
The Fall of Rome
Constantine (308—37 A. D.) continued Diocletian’s policies of regi-
menting the economy, by tying workers and their descendants even
more tightly to the land or their place of employment (Jones 1958).
For example, in 332 he issued the following order:
Any person in whose possession a tenant that belongs to another is
found not only shall restore the aforesaid tenant to his place of
origin but also shall assume the capitation tax for this man for the
time that he was with him. Tenants also who meditate flight may
be bound with chains and reduced to a servile condition, so that
by virtue of a servile condemnation they shall be compelled to fulfill
the duties that befit free men
[Jones 1970: 312].
Despite such efforts, land continued to be abandoned and trade,
for the most part, ceased (Rostovtzeff 1926). Industry moved to the
provinces, basically leaving Rome as an economic empty shell; still in
receipt of taxes, grain and other goods produced in the provinces,
but producing nothing itself. The mob of Rome and the palace favorites
produced nothing, yet continually demanded more, leading to an
intolerable tax burden on the productive classes.’3
In the fifty years after Diocletian the Roman tax burden roughly
doubled, making it impossible for small farmers to live on their produc-
tion (Bernardi 1970: 55)14 This is what led to the final breakdown of
the economy (Jones 1959). As Lactantius (1984: 13) put it:
The number of recipients began to exceed the number of contribu-
tors by so much that, with farmers’ resources exhausted by the
enormous size of the requisitions, fields became deserted and culti-
vated land was turned into forest.'
