Can someone tell me how to go about registering a tractor for going on the road. I have no paperwork for it but would like to get an age related plate, local to the area if possible but the original number if it had one would be even better.

You need to fill in a form and send it off along with £25. You can download it here.

Just done mine, should be getting the logbook today or tomorrow! When they ask for the chassis number they mean the serial number so watch out for that, took me 6 months to get mine because of this. Might be the normal, but its the mistake i made! If you do have trouble make sure you get the person whos dealing with its direct number as soon as possible. Going through the dvla phone system wont get you anywhere, only to an operator who hasnt a clue!

Is this only useful if you already know the original registration number?

We are starting the process of getting a db990 imp registered. We are getting a letter of authentication (after providing photos etc) through a tractor club and once we have that we need to fill in a V55/5 form from the DVLA and the £55 fee and then hopefully we will get a age related number plate.
