Hot water, honey, juice of a lemon and soluble aspirin + a shot of whisky if old enough [emoji12]
Mrs Mtx will know this but no Aspirin for children because of the risk of Reyes Disease :( http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Reyes-syndrome/Pages/Introduction.aspx#Causes

What causes Reye's syndrome?
The exact cause of Reye's syndrome is unknown, but it most commonly affects children and young adults recovering from a viral infection – typically, but not exclusively, a cold, flu or chickenpox.

In most cases, aspirin has been used to treat their symptoms, so aspirin may trigger Reye's syndrome.

In Reye's syndrome, it's thought that tiny structures within the cells called mitochondria become damaged.

Mitochondria provide cells with energy and they're particularly important for the healthy functioning of the liver.

If the liver loses its energy supply, it begins to fail. This can cause a dangerous build-up of toxic chemicals in the blood, which can damage the entire body and can cause the brain to swell.

Boil a kettle in his room before you put him down. Let it boil for a while so that the room fills with steam. This makes the air damp and so the airways are not under so much pressure.
Get some carvol capsules and break one on a blanket somewhere in his room - also helps the breathing.

Sorry about the aspirin in that recommendation - must admit that I had known that age limits had changed since my mother was told to give me 1/2 an ASPRO at the age of 6 months, washed down with Nurse Harvey's @ .5% proof. [emoji15]

A small spoonful of certified anti-bacterial Manuka honey +10 or higher would definitely be good though

I must admit I knew that Aspirin had been linked to Reye's Syndrome, and that children were not to be given it, but I had never looked up the symptoms until yesterday when I was checking the NHS website for the post above:nailbiting:

Low humidity is causing a lots of problem in my house. Apart from a humidifier, is natural method not effective in increasing humidity? Pls, i need help

Big bowl of steaming water and a towel over your head - Maybe a few drops of olbas oil in the water ..

Oh, and go easy on the cheese and dairy, 'cos those certainly increase my sticky snot levels....in fact eating something with moderate levels of chilli will probably help as well.

The children/infant formula of Benylin will be not much but glycerol I would think. It's nothing like the adult stuff (which tastes foul).

Basically, none of these cough mixtures really work, it's just a syrup that you coat your throat with a bit.

Our heating has been off since March. Cripes, if you shut a door in here and have the central heating going it can get hot and hideous in a few rooms very quickly.
