Removing Broken Key

What sort of lock? I assume a Yale type or a padlock otherwise you would poke it out from the other side?

We've managed to get broken John Deere keys out of the ignition barrel before using a selection of small picks and small needle nose pliers. Not easy though.

I had to get a broken ignition key out of a tractor.
I took the barrel off and banged it down on a bit of wood, brought it out just enough to get with needle nose pliers.

Use hot glue to release a broken key from a lock. Rub some glue on a stick. On the tip of the toothpick, apply some hot glue. Place the extractor tool into the keyhole after you're done cautiously. After touching the broken key with the tool, wait for the glue to dry. Once you're done, take the device with the broken key outside.
